I, like many others will be there to cheer you guys on at worlds. Any cheering tips for during your races that will help us motivate you even more?Great question. We are very excited to be racing with the support
of a hometown crowd this year. There are lots of ways to get us
pumped up, so please don't hold back in the cheering department.
Chants are always good if you can get the whole crowd into it that
would be ideal. CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! is an easy one, or C 4 C!
Or just someones name over and over. Cheering can be done before
the start as well, especially before 200s when they can hear you.
A C4C chant while we are lining up for C4 would really get us
pumped up. Make sure to take a little break while the start goes
off so we can hear it though.
Another great cheering aid is instruments or other noise making
devices. Worlds is a 4 day event and yelling the whole time can
be hard on the voice. Drums are great, the bigger the better.
Horns are also good, a whole horn section would be best. If you
are in a school band, getting them all to come would be fantastic.
Basically, the louder the better. We want to hear you, and we want
to know that all that cheering is for us, that is what will really
get us pumped up.
Other than noise, flags are a must. Looking into the crowd and
seeing hundreds of Canadian flags waving is sure to inspire us.
Last but not least, is face/body paint. If you are really committed,
you will be there with your whole body painted red. We did it at
Worlds in 2003, and I think it's safe to say that Vank wouldn't have
won silver without us.
