Here we are, one night before my first race. It has been a great journey leading to this moment and I am ready to enjoy every second of this coming week of racing. Everything has been done, time the is now to deliver and have fun. Our C-2 training has been very good, my physical condition is at its peak and I feel a load of energy building up inside me. This week is all about executing and I am thrilled to do it here at the Olympic Games.
The last couple days have been spent resting, eating and watching Canada winning medals after medals! I’ve always felt a Canadian pride when our athletes won medals but to be here and seeing them in action was totally unique. This afternoon we went and watched the rowing finals, and were part of a big Canadian crowd cheering them on to three medals, finishing with the amazing win by the mens eight. Watching the races and hearing the crowd made me that much more excited to race. The rowers had a great regatta and now its our turn to show our stuff. Its time to get to bed now, its hard to believe I have only one more sleep until I am racing at the Olympic Games!

Plus qu’une seule nuit avant le début des courses! J’ai eu énormément de plaisir à me rendre jusqu’ici et j’ai bien l’intention de savourer chaque instant de cette semaine de compétition. Tout est prêt, il ne reste plus qu’à exécuter le plan d’action. Nos entraînements de C-2 se sont très bien passés depuis notre arrivée et je sens une énergie monter en moi depuis environ d’une semaine. Je suis finalement prêt à courser aux Jeux Olympiques!
Ces dernières journées ont été très relaxantes, j’ai ramé, j’ai mangé et j’ai dormi. J’ai aussi passé d’innombrables heures devant la télé pour ne rien manquer de la récolte de médailles du Canada. De plus, cet après-midi nous avons eu la chance d’assister à la dernière journée de compétition d’aviron. C’était extraordinaire, l’équipage du 8 masculin a remporté la médaille d’or! Regarder la course et entendre la foule m’a donné plein de frissons et je suis encore plus motivé à performer. Toute l’équipe d’aviron a très bien représenté le Canada et nous devons maintenant en faire autant. Je dois aller me coucher, je n’arrive pas à croire qu’il ne reste plus qu’un dodo avant ma première course olympique!
