Greetings and salutations,
For years now I have been grabbing my cyber surfboard (laptop computer) and catching waves on the World Wide Web, feeling the rush as I travel from site to site. As a young paddler, I had difficulty finding quality websites about my sport while surfing the net. In recent years more and more good sites have sprung up, such as the site of good friend and current room mate Adam van Koeverden (www.vankayak.com). While I have been enjoying these new sites immensely, I felt the time was right to make some waves of my own. With the help of legendary webmaster Geoff Clarke, team C4C came together to create this website. We hope that it will be a place where other paddlers can come to learn a little bit about us, ask for advice and get a little bit of entertainment all at the same time. We also hope that we can use the site to help promote our sport in Canada and around the world.
So without further ado, I present my first journal entry, which is mine. This journal entry, which belongs to me, is as follows...
Here it goes. Ok, the next thing that I am about to say is my journal entry.
I don’t want to make a big deal of it, so I’m just gonna lay it out there, ok?
See, I don’t like making big speeches. I’m a straight shooter, I call them like I see them, what you see is what you get, ain’t nobody gonna break my stride, ain’t nobody gonna slow me down. Ok, here it goes.
We are once again down in sunny Florida for our annual spring training camp. This year is a big one, as there is a big race in China in August that everyone is trying to qualify for. We’ve been here two weeks now and everything is going smoothly. I am getting readjusted to being on the water twice a day, which is quite a shock to the body at first. I’m living with Gab, ARuss and Adam V in an apartment, the same as last year, which is great because we get along and all enjoy Voortmans chocolate wafers and Arizona Green Tea. Last year it worked out well for us, with our apartment winning all our races at trials. We are aiming for similar results this year. Everything is in place for a great training camp. I am in good shape, surrounded by my friends and family, and am happy with my living arrangements and training partners. I have a nice big bed and a big TV, the sun is up, the sky is blue, life is good.
Thanks for reading, come back soon.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
